Francis Hayes, a watchmaker, found guilty on an indictment for committing sodomy with Samuel Lovinge, aged about 14, in the parish of St Olave, Southwark on 13th January 1760.  “contrary to the order of Nature had a venereal affair and connection with the said Samuel Lovinge and then and there feloniously and carnally knew the said Samuel Lovinge and then and there feloniously, wickedly, diabolically and against the order of nature did commit and perpetrate the detestable and abominable crime of Buggery with the said Samuel Lovinge not to be named among Christians to the great grievance of Almighty God and to the great scandal and ignominy of all humankind”..
